Furthermore, our VIP delegates will enjoy exclusive "Hour With" sessions featuring select main stage and content track speakers, offering the opportunity to pose questions directly and participate in intimate conversations.

This global shift confronts a deeply ingrained dependence on fossil fuels, compounded by significant economic and logistical hurdles hindering the widespread adoption of cleaner energy sources and greater global electrification. In this pivotal content stream, we delve into the urgent imperatives necessitating an acceleration of this transition, alongside the challenging realities impeding progress. DAY ONE

THE BIG WHY & WHY NOT

Progress in scaling renewable technologies and energy sources continues, yet social and political challenges persist in the journey to triple renewable energy capacity globally by 2030. These include investment uncertainty and limited public awareness of the transition's intricacies, glacial project permitting, and regulatory hurdles leading to misjudged expectations, infrastructure cost inflation, lack of political clarity, and other overlooked difficulties. Thus, the journey to a cleaner energy future is as much a social, cultural, and political endeavor as it is technological and economic, demanding collective action and new ways of thinking to accelerate energy transition.

THE GLOBAL ELECTIONS SUPERCYCLE

2024 begins against a backdrop of rapidly accelerating technological change and economic uncertainty, as the world is plagued by a duo of dangerous crises: climate and conflict. Amidst underlying geopolitical tensions, the outbreak of active hostilities across various regions is fueling an unstable global landscape marked by divisive narratives, diminishing trust, and heightened insecurity. We explore the impact of the 2024 global elections supercycle, encompassing nations accounting for over half of the world's population and GDP, and examine the impact of increasing government mistrust, mis- and disinformation, widespread inflation, higher defense spending, polarizing social and economic issues, and other divisive trends, impacting industries, climate initiatives, and energy security.

FROM MINES TO MARKETS

Achieving a cleaner energy future demands a blend of technological, social, economic, cultural, communication, and political efforts, along with unparalleled collaboration between a multitude of unlikely stakeholders.

In the RBC Financing The Energy Transition track we explore strategies to unleash transformative energy and climate solutions by igniting urgency among investors, governments, and the public. THE PATHWAYS TRACK

CANADA - AN ENERGY TRANSITION SUPERPOWER

The Pathways Canada - An Energy Transition Superpower track explores Canada's remarkable decarbonization and clean energy capabilities and its role as a global leader in energy transition efforts.

Canada faces unique and specific challenges on its path to achieving net zero emissions. These challenges include decarbonizing heavy industries, transitioning the transportation sector, ensuring the energy transition is economically viable, and addressing the unique needs of indigenous communities and a large geographically dispersed country with a harsh Northern environment. Join us as we discuss these challenges and explore strategies to overcome them, ensuring Canada’s global role as an energy superpower.

THE ENERGY DISRUPTORS TRACK

NEW ENERGY

The Energy Disruptors New Energy track sheds light on some of the remarkable Canadian and international entrepreneurs shaking up the energy landscape. Think commercializing and scaling disruptive new technologies, novel material science breakthroughs, and unique new business models, all with the potential to positively disrupt the traditional energy landscape at scale. 

The track will also feature the leaders, companies, and entrepreneurs using proven technologies in new and unique ways. We will explore new geothermal technologies, hydrogen and battery breakthroughs, next-generation fission and fusion, pioneering repowering coal initiatives, and decarbonization technologies like CCS, DAC, and direct air capture with the potential to profoundly reshape global energy and emissions outputs.
